Rock'n'roll label set to close Perth Fashion Festival

Fashion lovers of WA, hold on to your trendy felt fedoras: Perth Fashion Festival returns this September, running from 21st – 27th. The festival is known to be a breeding ground for Australia’s most talented and sought-after seamstresses, and this year’s has more perks than ever. Local designer Kym Ellery has already chosen to showcase her amazing Spring ‘Ready To Wear’ collection exclusively with the festival – and gosh-darn, it makes us itch for winter to end! Coming up on the calendar are a range of fashion shows from menswear to swimwear, as well as workshops, lunches, and an international model search.

Our pick of the festival? Katy Perry and Amy Winehouse (RIP) love-label Wheels & Dollbaby will be celebrating its 25th anniversary in conjunction with the festival’s closing. The iconic rock’n’glam label will be showcasing its upcoming Spring/Summer 11/12 collection at a special event at His Majesty’s Theatre on Tuesday 27 September. The dollbaby designer herself, Melanie Greensmith, is psyched up to celebrate the quarter-century benchmark in her home city, saying, “Perth Fashion Festival is like family to us, so we’re thrilled to be celebrating our 25th birthday party on home soil as part of the festival.” Melanie is even dragging her hubby along for the party: ex-guitarist for the Divinyls, Mark McEntee who’ll be playing alongside an awesome line-up of musical talent.

Tickets to the festival are on sale now. Check out the full calendar here and reserve yourself a spot, quick-sticks, because we reckon they’ll be snapped up like the last pair of red-sole pumps at a Laboutin sale.
