THE NEW. RETRO. MODERN.

Blondie announce new album for May release

Deborah Harry by Mike Ruiz

An inspiration to an army of modern music makers, Deborah – aka: Debbie – Harry delivered the sexiest brand of punk in the ’70s and pop in the ’80s with her grand band Blondie. And she continues to cut a damn fine tune live. Not bad for a rocker at 70 years-plus.

Just announced today is the release of a new album by Blondie in May called Pollinator, the first new music from the band since 2014’s Ghosts Of Download.

Pollinator is bursting at the seams with collaborations, featuring Johnny Marr (ex-Smiths) on drums as well as TV On The Radio’s Dave Sitek, Sia and Charlie XCX.

But we can’t wait to hear the track Doom Or Destiny which features the dichotomous fantasticality (I think we made that word up) appearances by rock chick Joan Jett and spoken word genius Laurie Anderson.

The album was made at recording studio The Magic Shop in NYC, which is where David Bowie laid down his last LP Blackstar, so here’s hoping some Bowie-like brilliance has seeped through in spirit.

First single off it is a catchy little ditty called Fun which you can check out in the clip above.

Who’s excited? We are! You are! Blondie are!  Antonino Tati

‘Pollinator’ is scheduled for release May 5.
