This April, redheads around Australia will unite and take over Melbourne’s Federation Square for The Ginger Pride Rally.
Back again after the enormous success of its inaugural 2016 event, this gathering of the redheaded tribe will see the streets of Melbourne livened up with a bit of colour. Armed with flags and banners, redheads and ginger allies will be out in force, ready to get the party started.
The rally kicks off on April 29th and will provide plenty of ginger-themed activities to get involved in. As one would expect, the ginger beer will be flowing freely, which is just as well, with ginger-beer pong sure to be a huge drawcard. And for those looking for love, Ginger Speed Dating might just be the start of something beautiful. The little reds haven’t been forgotten either, with the kids’ ginger activity zone sure to keep them entertained for hours. And to top it all off, Melbourne band The Vanns will be back again this year to get the crowd pumping, with Luize Scott and X Factor standouts Brentwood also joining the line-up.
While all this might sound like one great big party, there is a serious goal behind it: 50% of funds raised from merchandise sales are being donated to the Alannah and Madeline Foundation, a charity that advocates for the safety of children, cares for children who have experienced serious violence, and works to reduce the incidence of physical bullying, cyberbullying.
Come April, seeing red takes on a whole new (and better) meaning. Chris Prindiville
