Brisbane gets the hero treatment

Marvel Main

From May 27, the hallowed halls of Brisbane’s Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA) will be transformed into a comic-book wonderland.

With items drawn from Marvel Studio’s extensive archive as well as from public and private collections, the Marvel: Creating the Cinematic Universe exhibition will offer audiences an unprecedented insight into the rich fictional world of the Marvel cinematic universe.

Featuring more than 500 objects, including over 60 original costumes (worn by actors including Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Hopkins, Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr. and Tilda Swinton), comic books, props, set designs, concept and keyframe art, clips and bespoke hands-on interactives, the exhibition is sure to have fans in a frenzy of excitement.

Throughout the exhibition season, GOMA will also be hosting a retrospective of Marvel films, including fan favourites such as Iron Man (2008), Marvel’s The Avengers (2012), Doctor Strange (2016) and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 (2017).

This winter, getting along to the art gallery becomes a truly marvellous experience.  Chris Prindiville

‘Marvel: Creating the Cinematic Universe’ will open exclusively at Brisbane’s  Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA) from 27 May until 3 September 2017.
