Netflix hit series Stranger Things has brought lots of ’80s references back to the small screen, introducing perhaps a new generation to some very bad-taste fashions that were gotten into 30+ years ago.
The series has already seen scary mullets, stonewashed denims, sad video games and dodgy BMXs parade through it, but its latest nod to the ’80s has got to be its most cringe-worthy yet.
Set in a pastel-laden shopping mall, the ‘promo’ clip sees stacks of bad-taste fashions and more ugly haircuts than you can poke a hot-iron at. Most of the scenes feature suburban folks getting excited doing, well, nothing much, really.
It’s all in good jest, of course, for when it comes to serious production value, Stranger Things delivers it in spades.
