Keith Flint of The Prodigy has died, aged 49
Keith Flint, frontman of The Prodigy, has been found dead in his home in Essex, England.
An Essex police spokesperson confirmed that the body of 49-year-old Flint was discovered unresponsive and declared dead at just after 8.10am this morning.
“We attended and, sadly, a 49-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.”
The death is not being treated as suspicious although some music industry folk are already announcing that Flint may have committed suicide.
Keith Flint and The Prodigy were famous for fusing punk rock with electronic dance music, their singles reaching the top of the charts in the early 1990s, including Breathe, Firestarter, Poison, and Smack My Bitch Up.
Flint’s intense stare and regular snarl reminded fans of an early Sid Vicious of the Sex Pistols.
Tributes continue to flow in from musical peers, including Ed Simons of dance duo the Chemical Brothers, who called him a “great man”.
Flint and his band had reportedly just returned home from an intense tour when news soon broke of the singer’s death.
