A cool blend of contemporary & retro culture

Kitsch & Stranger Things & Everything Eighties on at NostalgiaCon, USA

If you happen to be travelling around the US during late September (and in Autumn anywhere in the US is usually blessed with blissful weather), you may want to stop by NostalgiaCon: a convention dedicated to all things 1980s, to be held at the Anaheim Convention Centre in Orange County, California.

Since the 1980s have been enjoying a major rehash in pop culture – from television shows such as Stranger Things and American Horror Story: 1984 to fashion inspired by the decade of (dodgy) taste – a convention like NostalgiaCon arrives just in time.

NostalgiaCon will present two days of iconic ’80s celebrities, live music acts, cosplay, collectibles, retro gaming, and a whole lot of other shenanigans that defined the decade that was.

Back to the Future star Christopher Lloyd will be making an appearance to discuss the 30th Anniversary of Back to the Future 2. Cary Elwes (Stranger Things and Princess Bride) will be there, as will Matt Frewer (Max Headroom and Honey, I Shrunk the Kids) and Val Kilmer – who earned global recognition from such film roles as Top Gun and Batman.

On the music front, there’ll be live performances by rap artists the Sugar Hill Gang, along with TKA, Doug E Fresh, and Monie Love.

In the spirit of the decade, the convention will also feature a ‘retro marketplace’ that’ll include toys, clothing, poster art, and other collectibles – with top creative brands serving as sponsors.

Now, I only wish flights and accommodation prices were the same as they were back in 1984 so that I could book a return ticket to California quick!

NostalgiaCon is on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th September, 2019 at Anaheim Convention Centre, Orange County, California.

Tickets are available through www.nostalgiacon80s.com with one- and two-day prices ranging from US$49 – US$89.
