Missy Higgins’ Dad has Coronavirus; slams ‘flabbergasted’ Health Minister
Dr Chris Higgins, father of musician Missy Higgins, has contracted Coronavirus and is currently under quarantine.
Dr Higgins tested positive last week, after having treated some 70 patients in Melbourne.
He had returned home from the United States with what he thought was a minor cold but turned out to be early symptoms of Coronavirus.
Over the weekend, Victorian Health Minister Jenny Mikakos said she was “flabbergasted that a doctor that has flu-like symptoms presented to work” to which she has been criticised by members of the medical fraternity and fellow MPs.
Chris Higgins even took to social media, saying to Ms Mikakos: “I have been upset about the inaccuracies and unfairness of your comments. I believe you have taken a cheap opportunity for political grandstanding and would appreciate an apology.”
Dr Higgins believed he contracted the virus whilst overseas, and even took a swab before returning to work “for sake of completeness, not imagining for one moment it would turn out to be positive.”
Ms Mikakos has since declined to apologise, continuing to warn healthcare workers to stay home if they were unwell.
