THE NEW RETRO-MODERN

Target set to shut shop across regional Australia; some stores being rebranded as Kmart

It appears the fallout of Covid-19 is a massive one, especially on the retail front.

News just to hand is that more than 160 Target stores across Australia are getting set to close or to be rebranded as Kmart outlets.

Most of the store closings will be in Australia’s regional areas, with the full list of stores shutting shop, and stores being rebranded as Kmart available to view below.

Store closing in Western Australia, slated to shut shop in 2021, are Busselton, Karratha, Kununurra, Manjimup, Margaret River, Meadow River, Merredin and Narrogin, and Meadow Springs (earlier) in August 2020.

Stores in WA to be rebranded as Kmart are those in Esperance, Geraldton, Northam and Pinjarra (early 2021).

Target has said it will “look into increase awareness of our online business” in regional locations, while a handful of its urban outlets remain open in each city.
