Benjamin Keough – son of Lisa Marie Presley; grandson of Elvis – has died by suicide
Benjamin Keough – the son of Lisa Marie Presley and grandson of Elvis Presley – died yesterday from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Keough was 27 and died from apparent suicide.
Lisa Marie Presley’s representative Roger Widynowski said in a statement to world media: “[Lisa Marie] is completely heartbroken, inconsolable and beyond devastated, but trying to stay strong for her 11-year-old twins and her oldest daughter Riley. She adored that boy. He was the love of her life.”
Critics have often made mention of how Benjamin’s eyes strongly recalled those of his grandfather, famous rock’n’roller Elvis Presley.
Various members of Keough’s family worked in the entertainment industry. Lisa Marie had a music career – one time appearing on the cover of Cream magazine, while his sister is actress Riley Keough and his father is musician Danny Keough, who Lisa Marie divorced in 1994.
Along with his siblings, Benjamin was featured in Lisa Marie Presley’s 2012 music video for a post-humous “duet” with Elvis for his 1954 hit I Love You Because.
Singer Nancy Sinatra – who starred with Elvis Presley in the film Speedway – took to Twitter to send her condolences, saying, “I have known you since before your mama gave birth to you, never dreaming you would have pain like this in your life. I’m so very sorry.”
It is reported the self-inflicted gunshot was a result of a contrived suicide.
