Hilarious musical romp on hooking up and breaking up
In her Fringe solo production It’s Not Me, It’s Definitely You, singer Lisa Woodbrook is neither Amy Winehouse nor Lily Allen but she definitely channels the performance genius of both.
Woodbrook is a devilish powerhouse of energy from the moment she steps on stage. Her joyful zest is totally contagious, almost at odds with the two artists whose works she takes on, but when she does get into Allen or Winehouse mode, she really turns up the angst.
In between stories about hooking up and breaking up – casually circumnavigating the relatable challenges of the evolving dating world – Woodbrook breaks into a pop gem from Lily here, a torchsong ballad from Winehouse there.
Lisa Woodbrook is comical diva and talented songstress in one. Her humour is natural, vibey and will leave you with sore cheeks. And her singing? Brilliant.
If you appreciate the aforementioned artists, you’ll agree that Woodbrook does both justice and then some.
