Forget the mushy love songs; Spotify shares its lists of Anti-Valentines and Break-up Songs to help get the ex out of your system for good
This Valentines, we’re with Spotify who’ve put the mushy love songs on pause for a moment to pay tribute to those that have lost in love this past year.
For all those jaded lovers sick of melodramatic romance, the music streaming app tips its hat to you, sharing its top data trends of songs with an Anti-Valentine’s vibe.
While Spotify reveals there are 1.1 million Valentine playlists in the world (25,000 of those Australian-curated), there are also 870,000 ‘break-up’ lists and, at last count, 9,000 Anti-Valentine playlists.
The top 10 global Anti-Valentine’s Day List is headed up by CeeLo Green and his vitriol-laced epic track, Fuck You.
At number two is TLC with No Scrubs. Number three is Beyoncé’s Single Ladies (who don’t particularly care to see a ring on it); number four Alanis Morissette’s You Oughta Know; and rounding out the top five (rather surprisingly) is 1980s rockers The J. Geils Band with Love Stinks.

The top 5 songs streamed by Aussies during Valentines includes John Legend’s All of Me; Ed Sheeran’s Thinking Out Loud; Whitney Houston’s I Will Always Love You; and Elvis Presley’s Can’t Help Falling in Love – which, of course, some of us simply can’t.
