Music legend Burt Bacharach has died, aged 94
Legendary singer, songwriter and music composer Burt Bacharach has died, aged 94.
Bacharach died of natural causes, peacefully at his home in Los Angeles on Wednesday afternoon (US time), according to publicist Tina Brausam.
The name Burt Bacharach can be seen in the writing credits of such classic songs as The Look of Love and I Just Don’t Know What To Do With Myself (both made famous when sung by Dusty Springfield); Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head (BJ Thomas); (They Long To Be) Close To You (The Carpenters); I’ll Never Fall In Love Again (written for the musical Promises, Promises); Anyone Who Had A Heart (Cilla Black, and Dusty Springfield again); Arthur’s Theme (Christopher Cross); and Say A Little Prayer (Aretha Franklin).
But perhaps Bacharach’s most famous interpreter of songs was Dionne Warwick who enjoyed hit after hit with the likes of Walk on By, Do You Know the Way to San Jose, What The World Needs Now, and I Just Don’t Know What To Do With Myself.
Other artists who covered his songs include Elvis Presley, the Beatles and Frank Sinatra. Basically, Bacharach was connected to just about everyone in the music industry’s golden age.
