Between a rock and a hard place: Melbourne Design Fair works put the ‘solid’ into furniture-inspired art pieces
Showcasing a wide array of collectible design from cutting-edge furniture to unique objects and jewellery, Melbourne Design Fair provides visitors with the opportunity to discover new talent, explore innovative design production, and gain insight into the latest ideas and trends in the world of collectible design.
Unearth Australia’s next generation design talent in Discovery – a platform to showcase the work of early career practitioners, curated by the National Gallery of Victoria.
Discovery includes works by multidisciplinary designer Annie Paxton whose pieces often dwell in the liminal space between the functional and the sculptural, the robust and the fragile (image, above); and designer Charlie White where industrial and functional find their way into object design (image, top of story).
The Melbourne Design Fair is on from 18-21 May, 2023, at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
