Donald Trump found guilty of sexual abuse; victim awarded $7.4million
A jury has found Donald Trump guilty in sexually abusing magazine columnist E Jean Carroll in 1996, with a U.S. court awarding Carroll millions of dollars in damages.
The finding, which rejected Trump’s denial that he assaulted Ms Carroll and ruled in her favour, could effect Trump’s campaign to regain the White House.
Trump has been ordered to pay E Jean Carroll $5 million (AUD$7.4m) in damages but where he’ll get the money from all his false assets and pseudo millions is anyone’s guess.
Because this was a civil case, Mr Trump faces no criminal consequences.
It is reported that Trump sexually abused Carroll in the 1990s and then defamed her by branding her a liar. Ms Carroll, 79, testified during a civil trial that Trump, 76, raped her in a Bergdorf Goodman department store dressing room in Manhattan in either 1995 or 1996, then harmed her reputation by writing in an October 2022 post on his Truth Social platform that her claims were a “complete con job” and “a lie”.
Trump insists he is innocent and that he doesn’t know Ms Carroll.
