Matcha do about everything: the delicious mix of matcha and strawberry in a new Connoisseur ice cream

It’s funny how it takes quite a while for outside cultures to catch up with the goodness of things that are otherwise common in certain countries they’ve hailed from. Like the goodness of pistachio – which has forever been a healthy favourite in Italy. Or the goodness of turmeric which is native to the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia. Of course, matcha comes under this category, too, and that’s a really strange one to have taken so long to cross cultures – since it has been a staple in Chinese culture for centuries, its roots tracing back to the Tang Dynasty, where tea leaves were steamed and pressed into blocks for storage and trade.
Today, all across the world, matcha has found itself in products as diverse as chocolate and tea, baked goods and savory dishes, salad dressings and roast rubs, latte coffees and ice cream. In that latter category comes a new, delicious product that sees matcha matched with another favourite ingredient – strawberries.
Connoisseur have released a Strawberry Matcha ice cream on a stick and its a combination made in creamy heaven. Green tea leaves have been harvested and ground into a vibrant matcha powder then folded through quality ice cream which is then swirled with strawberry syrup.
This is then coated with a crispy strawberry-flavoured pink chocolate shell, allowing for every bite to burst with a good balance of the earthiness of the matcha and the sweetness of the strawberry.
Matcha will keep being a hero ingredient in products right across the grocery aisles, but I’ve got to say so far, this strawberry and matcha match has been one of my favourites.
And while you’re enjoying this decadent ice cream, you can smile at how good it is for you. The matcha alone is nutrient-dense, providing high levels of antioxidants, supporting brain function, and calming focus.
Indulging in ice cream never tasted so good while also being very good for you.
Connoisseur Strawberry Matcha ice creams come in a pack of 4, RRP $12, and are available at supermarkets.
