Gaga to star in movie about gruesome Gucci murder, to be directed by Ridley Scott
The fashion scene is full of seedy and sordid scenarios. Up there with the darkest of storytelling of Gianni Versace’s assassination, John Galliano’s anti-Semitic remarks, and Alexander McQueen’s suicide has got to be the murder of Maurizio Gucci, grandson of fashion house founder Guccio Gucci (gosh that double-barrel of a name still makes us cringe).
News today is that director Ridley Scott (Bladerunner / Thelma & Louise) is making a movie about the dark days that lead to the younger Gucci’s death, and attraction to the movie has been avid.
Already slated to star is Lady Gaga who will play Patrizia Reggiani, the ex-wife of Maurizio and, really, the movie’s main character.
Reggiani had been abandoned by Gucci after 12 years of marriage, he having left her in 1985 for a younger woman…
Reggiani was tried and convicted of orchestrating her ex-husband’s assassination on the steps of his office in Italy in 1995, and gained the nickname ‘The Black Widow’. She served time in prison from 1998 until 2014.
The film’s script will be based on the book by Sara Gay Forden (with the unnecessarily long title of) The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed.
Let’s see them try and fit that title on a poster or meme.
Lady Gaga previously played the lead in A Star Is Born, earning a nomination for Best Actress at the Academy Awards. She also appeared as a villain in American Horror Story: Hotel for which received the Best Actress Golden Globe Award.
