‘Animal Crossing’ gets into the Halloween spirit with a bunch of bonus features (call them ‘pumpkin patches’, if you will!)
We’ve never really seen a popular video game add patches which tie in to specific seasons of the year, but Animal Crossing is about to change all that.
Tomorrow – September 30th – will see a free ‘Halloween’ update arriving to Animal Crossing: New Horizons – available for Nintendo Switch – including Halloween costumes, character customisation, DIY projects and other festivities.
To give you an example, there’ll be ‘Growing Pumpkins’ – which, once they’re grown, can be harvested and put to use in pumpkin-based DIY projects.
Players can also start stocking up earlier on candy, and there’s the option to purchase costumes, such as mummy outfits, at Able Sisters’ shop throughout the month of October.
Body paint and coloured eye contacts are also available – allowing your character that ‘Marilyn Manson’ look.
When Halloween night arrives on October 31st, neighbours will gather in a plaza adorned with spooky decorations, and will receive a visit from a mysterious guest: Jack, the “Czar of Halloween”.
We won’t give anymore away, suffice to say that the Crossing crosses over into reality a little more weirdly this season.
