Wooden it be mad? Are you ready for a truly f3cked up Pinocchio?

Forget everything you thought you knew about bedtime stories. Pinocchio Unstrung hacks the fairy tale to splinters, delivering a blood-soaked slasher that trades magic for mayhem. Horror icon Robert Englund (of Freddy from the Nightmare On Elm Street franchise) sinks his teeth into the role of a deeply sinister Cricket, while Richard Brake brings unsettling gravitas to Geppetto in a twisted reimagining that’s equal parts nightmare fuel and grindhouse spectacle.
This isn’t the wooden puppet searching for a conscience; it’s a vengeance-fuelled killing machine determined to carve itself into a real boy, one victim at a time.
In equal measures absurd, savage and gloriously over-the-top, Pinocchio Unstrung leans into its outrageous premise with unapologetic glee, promising inventive kills, pitch-black humour and enough twisted nostalgia to satisfy horror diehards. If public domain horror has become the new playground for fearless filmmakers, this could be one of its most deliriously unhinged attractions yet.
‘Pinocchio Unstrung’ is in cinemas July 24, 2026.
